Brocki's Summary of Velo-city Highlights Vancouver's Unfounded Cycling Smugness

A recent article entitled I Bragged about Vancouver Cycling and Global Experts Laughed has been making the rounds in social media circles and raising eyebrows. Luke Brocki’s synopsis of Velo-city captures the spirit and sentiment of many well wishing Vancouverites and the reaction of many international cycling advocates.

Vancouver has made a positive stand when it comes to cycling; we've seen more infrastructure, increased awareness, and great advocacy groups such as HUB and BEST to provide education. Heck, ask any hipster you know and they will confirm that cycling is cool.

Luke Brocki’s Tyee article outlined that our smugness is unfounded. Yes we’re taking the right steps in the right direction, and indeed, our intentions are pointed in the right direction. However, in the eyes of international cycling experts, we have a long way to go.
