With IT capabilities that seamlessly allow people to work from home, many companies offer telework (or telecommute) as a great alternative option to daily commuting.

Whether it’s just once in a while, a set day each week, or actually working from a ‘home office’, teleworking allows employees to fully focus on their work with fewer interruptions. Some work tasks that lend themselves well to telework are researching, reading, writing and editing, inputting data, telephoning clients, computer programming and sales.

Under the right circumstances, both employees and employers stand to benefit from teleworking. A recent study found that apart from the obvious commuting cost savings for employees, time was gained by not commuting and 76% felt they were more productive.
